Hello and welcome to our latest video, featuring 10 mysterious facts from FunFactz.com!
Number 1: In 1968, a car carrying almost 300,000,000 Yen (about $817,520 US Dollars at 1968 exchange rates) that was being driven by Japanese bank employees was pulled over by a motorcycle cop who claimed the car had been rigged with a bomb. The cop went under the car to “defuse” the device. When the car started to smoke, everybody ran. Then the “cop” just drove the car away. The robbery remains unsolved to this day.
Number 2: Since 1982, a radio frequency emanating from Russia has been broadcasting a buzzer-like sound and, periodically, an unknown voice reads orders, names, and numbers. No one knows where exactly it is coming from or what it means.
Number 3: In 2007, an unmanned yacht was discovered drifting off the coast of Australia. The engine and a laptop were running, the radio and GPS were working and a meal was set to eat, but the three-man crew were not on board.
Number 4: In 1977, researchers at SETI (the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) detected an unusually strong radio signal from space that lasted 72 seconds. It has been dubbed the ‘Wow! signal’ because the astronomer monitoring it wrote the comment “Wow!” beside it. Scientists say that if the signal came from extraterrestrials, they are likely an extremely advanced civilization, as the signal would have required transmitter vastly more powerful than any we possess.
Number 5: In 2003, a Boeing 727-223 was stolen from an airport in Angola. Despite a worldwide search, it still has not been found.
Number 6: In 1958, a nuclear bomb was lost somewhere along the swampy coast of Georgia after a B-47 carrying the bomb collided in midair with an F-86 fighter plane. Its whereabouts remain a mystery to this day.
Number 7: In 1987, a Chicago TV station had its broadcast interrupted by a pirate signal that showed a man in a Max Headroom mask mumbling and being spanked with a fly swatter. Despite investigations by the FCC and FBI, this became the only known incident in which a hacker interrupted a major TV broadcast without getting caught.
Number 8: In April 2010, radio astronomers monitoring the galaxy M82 spotted an unknown object that was moving 4 times faster than the speed of light and sending radio signals that had never been seen in the universe before.
Number 9: A waterfall known as The Devil’s Kettle empties water into a hole and nobody knows where it ends up. Hitchhikers and scientists alike have tried throwing things down it like color dyes, but still found no apparent outlet.
Number 10: There’s a mysterious dwarf planet between Mars and Jupiter called ‘Ceres’ which has never been visited by spacecraft or photographed in detail. However, Earth-bound telescopes reveal a large bright shining spot on the surface of this planet – the origin and nature of which are currently unknown.
